Ijaw leaders warn against declaring Niger Delta Republic













Ijaw leaders have called on President Buhari to practice true federalism – Edwin Clark also advised the president not to scrape the Maritime University – Governor Seriake Dickson insisted that violence will not stop the problem of militancy

A group, Adaka Boro Avengers had warned south east and south south people to return back to the region August 1 has been set for the declaration of the Niger Delta Republic. Vanguard reports that this warning not to go ahead with the declaration was given at a consultative meeting in Warri in Delta State which was hosted by Ijaw national leader, Chief Edwin Clark.. Unless this country is restructured, we (Ijaws) will continue to be treated as second-class citizens. We are not second-class citizens. We must fight for our rights but not by destruction of pipelines.
